This is the story of two ordinary Yorkshire guys, Nev Styles and Tony Day who have a dream and want to turn it into a challenge by competing in The Real Way to Dakar 2023, an adventure rally following the original Paris Dakar route.
The event will cover some 6000 Kilometres across Europe and Western Africa to the finish line, close to the equator in the City of Dakar.
We aim to raise sponsorship to complete the challenge and throughout this year on the leadup to the event, we want to raise money for the fantastic charity ‘Help for Heroes’
The event will be competed using an SSV (side by side vehicle) or in simpler terms a buggy. This is no ordinary buggy though; this machine is built for rally raiding with several unique safety features and an extremely powerful engine.
The challenge is going to be extremely difficult but with the help of a service mechanic and driver, who will follow the event and be ready each evening to carry out essential maintenance work on the vehicle while Nev & Tony concentrate on plotting the following days route.
We expect to have to contend with snow and sub-zero temperatures in the Atlas Mountains through to 40 plus degree temperatures in the sands of the Sahara Desert.
